英语教师在每一堂课都离不开，问题的设计，问答包括师生之间的，也是生生之间的，还有一个学生面对全班或小组的等等形式，教师提问问题设计是最常见的课堂教学活动设计之一。如何提问在任何课堂教学中都是必不可少的。在英语中，最常见的问题是“wh”提问，因为它们以这两个字母开头:where、when、why、what和who。它们可以作为副词、形容词、代词或其他词类，用于询问特定的信息。
但WH”提问可以和介词连用，最常见的组合你知道几个？首先我们看一下这几个词单独使用时问题时如何预设的。
Who
用这个词来问关于人的问题。在这个例子中，“who”是一个直接宾语。Use this word to ask questions about people. In this example, "who" serves as a direct object.
如：Who do you like?
Who has he decided to hire for the job?
在其他情况下，“who”作为主语。在这种情况下，句子结构与肯定句相似。
如：Who studies Russian?
Who would like to take a vacation?
在正式英语中，whom将代替who作为介词的直接宾语。
To whom should I address this letter?
For whom is this present?
What
Use this word to ask about things or actions in object questions.
What does he do at weekends?
What do you like to eat for dessert?
通过在句子中添加单词“like”，你可以要求对人、物和地点的物理描述。

When
Use this word to ask questions about time-related events, specific or general.

Where
This word is used to ask about location.

这个词可以和形容词结合在一起，用来询问有关具体特征、质量和数量的问题。

How much does it cost?

Which
当与名词连用时，这个词是在许多项目中进行选择时使用的。

Using Prepositions与介词搭配的常用组合如下：
很多“wh”问句都可以和介词连用，尤其是在问句的结尾。一些最常见的组合如下：
who ... for
who ... with
where ... to
where ... from
what ... for (= why)
what ... in
例如：Who are you working for?
Where are they going to?
What did he buy that for?
Jennifer is writing a new article.Who for?
She"s writing it for Jane magazine.
Tips
当使用“do”和“go”等更一般的动词时，通常会使用更具体的动词。
Why did he do it?
He wanted to get a raise.
Questions with "why" are often replied to using "because" as in the following example.
Why are you working so hard?
Because I need to finish this project soon.
这些问题通常用祈使句(to do)来回答。在本例中，带有“because”的子句被理解为包含在答案中。
Why are they coming next week?
To make a presentation. (Because they are going to make a presentation.)
