职场英语——与职场人士打交道时 如何介绍你的职业？

I"m gonna tell you about two questions you need to know for business.

我要告诉你在商务场合中 你需要知道的两个问题

Now they"re really easy.

它们很简单

So you should not have any stress about this.

所以你不用感到有任何压力

What we have here is this question,

有这么一个问题

What do you do?

你是做什么的

Now if you say it really fast, what do you do?

如果你加快语速的话 就变成这样

Gets a little...sounds a little strange, but just don"t worry, go natural with it.

听起来有点奇怪对吧 不用担心 只要自然的读出来就好了

That"s what people want to know.

人们想知道你是做什么工作的

If this question we"re longer, what do you do on the weekend?

如果这个问题变成"你周末都干些什么"的话

Now it"s about your weekend, your hobbies, your fun time,

问的就是你周末做什么 你的爱好 你如何度过周末等

But if the question is just: What do you do?

如果问题单纯就是问What do you do的话

It"s about work.

问的是 你的职业是什么

And that"s all it is.

不要搞错了

So if you ask me: What do you do,

如果你问我What do you do的话

I say I"m a teacher.

我就说我是个老师

That"s my job. That"s my work.

老师是我的职业

Now of course, you may have to change a to an if you"re I"m an engineer,

如果你是个工程师的话 需要用an来修饰engineer

Or I"m a student, just the a.

或者说 我是个学生 修饰学生用a就可以了

So think job title for this one.

所以遇到这个问题时 记得是要回答你的职业

There"s also here, I"m in charge of...

这里还有一个 I"m in charge of...

In charge that means duty.

in charge这个短语表示 负责 责任

What are you responsible for?

你负责的是什么

What do you need to do for your job?

你在工作中需要做什么呢

If you"re a leader of a marketing team,

如果你是市场团队的领导

you may say I"m in charge of a marketing team.

你可能会说 我带领的是市场团队

You"re the leader, that"s your duty, take care them.

你是领导 你负责的就是管理好团队成员

Or you ask me, I"m in charge of helping my students.

如果你问我的话 我就会说 我是负责帮助我的学生学习英语的

That"s what I have to do.

那是我必须做的

So I"m in charge of my students.

所以 我要对我的学生负责

Of course a very easier than that, we have the simple,

还有一个更加简单的说法

Where do you work?

你在哪里工作

You can say the company name.

你可以回答公司名称

You can be very specific.

你可以说的具体点

and say something like: I work at XX Bank.

我在（具体名字）银行工作

Or you don"t have to say the company name, you can just say: I work at a bank.

或者你不用说那么具体 你可以只说 我在银行工作

That"s fine too.

这样也是可以的

Let"s look at some example dialogue where we put these two questions together.

下面我们就来看些例子吧

All right here"s our first examples here, the question was what do you do.

第一个例子 问题是What do you do

The easy answers I"m a doctor or I"m a banker or I"m an accountant.

简单的回答 我是个医生 我是个银行职员 我是个会计

What"s whatever you do.

不管是什么职业 用这个句型套用即可

The next question--Where do you work.

下一个问题 Where do you work

I work at a bank, I work at a store, I work at a school.

我在银行工作 我在商店工作 我在学校工作

Just the place you work at put that in there.

套用这个句型 后面加工作地点就行

Just like those two phrases I just showed you,

和刚刚展示给大家的一样

there"s another question that"s very common, especially in American conversation.

还有另外一个问题非常常见 特别是在美国人的谈话中

And it goes like this---What do you do for a living?

那就是 What do you do for a living

For a living...you know we all have to live,

大家都需要生存

we all have to pay for it.

为了生存 我们都需要钱来维持

So that"s our job right there.

所以 What do you do for a living问的就是 你是靠什么维持生计呢

So it"s basically asking---How do you pay for your life?

基本上就是在问 你是如何维持你的生活的

Just like the what do you do question,

和what do you do这个问题一样

you can simply answer:

你可以简单的回答

I"m a teacher, I"m an engineer, I"m an accountant.

我是一名老师 我是一名工程师 我是一名会计

Or you can go ahead and give a full longer description of---I work in the personnel department at SK.

或者你可以说的更详细点 我在SK公司的人事部工作

So you can keep it short, you can keep it long, that"s okay.

你可以简略的回答 也可以详细的回答 都是没问题的

Let"s take a look at examples of long and short answers to this question.

我们各来看个例子吧

Now here"s the longer question---What do you do for a living?

这是一个询问对方职业的更长的句子

The short answer would just be---I"m a teacher, and that"s fine.

简短回答的话就是I"m a teacher 这样说没有问题

But you can also give a longer answer like,

你也可以说的更详细点

I work in the legal department for Lotte.

我在乐天法律部门工作

So here you can go short answer or long answer both are okay.

所以在这里 简短回答或详细回答都是可以的

meet new people in business.
