关于连词
连词-conjunction是一种虚词， 它不能独立担任句子成分而只起连接词与词，短语与短语以及句与句的作用。
连词有两种
并列连词-Coordinate conjunction从属连词-Subordinate conjunction
并列连词的用法
表结合的连词：
and 和，而且Fifty houses were entirely destroyed and ten were partly destroyed.
50所房屋被完全摧毁还有10座房屋被部分摧毁。
and...also 还有He is guilty,and you also.
他有罪，你也有罪。
both...and 既…又…，两个都He is both proud and poor.
他既骄傲又贫穷。
not only...but also 不但…而且…not merely...but likewise 不仅……但同样地He is not only/merely proud,but also/likewise poor.
他不仅骄傲，而且同样贫穷。
as well as 也；和…一样；不但…而且He is poor as well as proud.
他既穷又傲慢。
注意：如果只是简单的把词或句连接起来，用and就可以；如果要是前后两部分语气加强，则使用both...and更好；而使用not only...but also时，后面的部分语气要强于前面部分；as well as则恰好相反，后者的意思要弱于前者。
表转折的连词：
but 但是；而是；然而I"d like to,but I"m too busy.
我想去，但是我太忙了
and yet 可是，然而He made great efforts，and yet he failed to gain his end.
他做了很大的努力，但没有达到目的。
still 仍然；但是；尽管如此He was unsuccessful: still he did not lose heart.
他失败了，但他仍然没有失去信心。
nevertheless 然而，不过All men were against him; nevertheless he persevered.
众人都反对他，但他仍然坚持。
indeed...but 的确...但是...He recovered indeed, but his health has never been so good since.
他确实康复了，但从那以后，他的健康从未如此好过。
it is true...but 的确...但是...It is true he is old, but he is still strong.
他的确老了，但仍然很强壮。
not…but… 不是……而是……They were not the bones of an animal,but of a human being.
它们不是动物的骨头，而是人的骨头。
注意：but表示转折，while表示对比。
Some people love cats, while others hate them.
有些人喜欢猫，而有些人讨厌猫。
表推论的连词：
so 因此
He hurt his leg, so he couldn"t play in the game.
他伤了腿，所以不能参加比赛。
注意：therefore是副词，它不能直接用来连接两个简单句，但它可以放在句首，后面加逗号，也可以放在句中作为插入语来用。这里我还要说一下，and therefore 这个表达相当于so，这个大家务必要记住。
表选择的连词：
either...orneither...nor例句：
Either you or I must be out of our senses.你我之间一定有人疯了。Neither he nor they are mistaken.他和他们都没有错。He will not go, and I will not go, either.他不去，我也不去。He will not go, neither will I.他不去，我也不去。He will not go, nor will I.他不去，我也不去。从属连词的用法：
表示原因的连词：
because 因为for 因为since 因为；由于as 因为now that 既然；由于例句：
He has been promoted because he is able and industrious.他被提升是因为他能干而且勤奋。He must have passed this way, for here are his footprints.他一定是从这儿走过的，因为这儿有他的脚印。Since it has come to that, there is no help for it.既然到了那个地步，就没有办法了。As prices are going up daily, poor people are in great distress.由于物价每天都在上涨，穷人陷入了极大的困境。Now that you have finish your work, you may go.既然你已经完成了你的工作，你可以走了。注意：这两个词的意思很相近，通常是可以互换使用的。为了安全起见，最好用because引导从句，因为同 because引导的从句相比，for引导的从句的用法要受到某些限制：
①for引导的从句不能位于它所解释的动词之前：
Because it was wet he took a taxi.
因为下雨，他叫了一辆出租车。（这里不能用for）
②for引导的从句不能位于not，but或任何连词之后
③for引导的从句不能用于回答问题：
—Why did you do it？ 你为什么这么做？
—I did it because I was angry. 因为我生气才这么做的。（这里不能用for）
④for引导的从句不能单单用来复述已讲过的话，而必须包括新的内容：
He spoke in French. 他讲法语。
She was angry because he had spoken in French. 因为他讲法语，她生气了。
表时间的连词：

When the cat away, the mice will play.猫儿不在，老鼠成精。Make hay while the sun shines.趁晴晒草(和趁热打铁同意，指把握时机。)Just as I got to the station, the whistle was heard.我刚到车站，汽笛就响了。As soon as it was light enough in the morning to see, he was up and reading.早晨天一亮，他就起床看书了。I had scarcely/hardly finished my work when a friend of mine called on me.我刚做完工作，一个朋友就来看我。No sooner had we started for the excursion than it began to rain.我们刚动身去远足，天就开始下雨了。I will take care of you as long as I live.只要我活着，我就会照顾你。So long as a youth has true respect, vice has little attraction for him.只要一个年轻人有真正的尊敬，邪恶对他就没有什么吸引力。注意：
when可以用于过去、现在、未来的任何时候while表示继续的意思as有“同时”之意比较：
Every one listens when he speaks.每个人说话的时候都会听。有I was just going to explain, when the bell rang.我正要解释，这时门铃响了。第一个例句中“when”是从属连词；第二个例句中“when”有“and then”之意，是并列连词。
表条件的连词：
if 表条件）如果；即使；是否；（表假设）假如unless 除非，如果不in case 万一；假使provided 假如；倘若例句：
If you are hungry,I will give you something to eat.如果你饿了，我就给你东西吃。Unless you read it again you will not understand it.除非你再读一遍，否则你不会理解它。I will leave a note in case he is absent.万一他不在，我就留个条。I will pardon him provided he acknowledge his fault. 只要他承认错误，我就原谅他。表结果的连词：
such...thatso...thatso that例句：
He was in such a condition that we all felt anxious about him.他的情况如此严重，我们大家都为他担心。He was so kind that he was loved by all.他是如此的善良，以至于所有的人都爱他。A great part of Belgium is flat, so that the country is not particularly pretty.比利时大部分地区地势平坦，所以这个国家并不特别漂亮。注意：such...that和so...that 同义，只是such后接名词，so接形容词或副词
表让步的连词：
though虽然；尽管even if 即使；虽然however 然而；可是as 虽然例句：
Though love cannot plant morals in the human breast, it cultivates them when there.虽然爱不能在人的胸中播下道德的种子，但它会在胸中培育道德。Even if he has never been abroad, he speaks good English.即使他从未出过国，他的英语也讲得很好。However hard you may try, you will not be able to solve this question in a day or two.不管你怎么努力，一两天内你都解决不了这个问题。Old as he is, he is very active.虽然他老了，但他很活跃。表目的的连词：
that...mayso that...mayin order that例句：
